Q. What is a typical Reiki session?

A.

  • A brief discussion of your basic health history and state of wellbeing, and sign a disclaimer form.
  • You may state your intention, such as relieving a certain pain or discomfort in your body, or emotional distress.
  • Take your shoes off and get on the massage table fully clothed, facing up.
  • Reiki practitioner's hands gently lay on various positions of your body to let the energy flow through.  Practitioner's hands will not touch but will only hover over female chest and both genders' pubic area if it is needed.  You may state your boundaries during the pre-session discussion of where not to be touched due to personal limitation.
  • Once the front of your body received adequate energy, you will be asked to roll over facing down.  Your head will be on a face cradle.
  • After the session, there will be a short discussion of your session.
  • Please note that this is not a massage, there will be no muscles manipulation.
  • Environmental sound or soothing music will be played to enhance the experience.   You may ask to have a quiet session.
  • Suggest you to drink plenty of water after the session, up to 7 days.

Q. What is the difference between Qigong and Reiki?

A. Both Qigong and Reiki use the universal life force energy.   Reiki is unique as it flows to where it is needed without the practitioner's focus intent.  Reiki practitioner only serves as a channel or a tube for the Reiki energy to flow through.  So that the Reiki practitioner's own body's Qi/Ki energy will not be depleted by the client.  The client will not take on practitioner's own energy.

Q. Can Reiki cure ____ disease?

A. Although some people have gotten miraculous results over a period of time, Reiki is not a cure of any diseases.  Reiki practitioner is like a power cord running electric current (Reiki energy) to your machine (body), and the ultimate fixing (healing) is decidedly done by your own machine (body).

Q. Will my skepticism in Reiki affect the "healing"?

A. No.  However, permission from the receipient will affect the healing.  If a skeptic who does not want the healing and only want to prove it is not working, his mind will shut off the flow.
